Kofi Owusu Boateng is an astute lawyer, accomplished entrepreneur, and versatile marketing communications professional. Known for his strategic mindset and ability to see the “big picture,” Kofi excels in navigating complex challenges across diverse industries.

As the founder and managing partner of August Law, Kofi brings over 20 years of leadership experience spanning legal practice, retail, technology, real estate, and financial services. He has worked with globally recognized brands such as IKEA in Maryland, Harte-Hanks Data Technologies in Massachusetts, and, most recently, T. Rowe Price Investment Services in Maryland, USA—a firm managing over $600 billion in assets worldwide.

Kofi holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Global Marketing Communication & Advertising (GMCA) from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, which has deepened his understanding of cultural values and their significance in today’s global business environment. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Ghana’s School of Law in Legon, and a Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law in Accra.

Before founding August Law, Kofi served as the firm manager at Parkwood & Mossane, a boutique bilingual law firm in Accra, where he handled litigation and provided expertise in corporate and commercial matters for individuals and businesses. He has also worked with other prominent law firms, including Kulendi@Law and Legal Anchor, further solidifying his reputation in the legal field. Kofi’s areas of specialization include Family Law, Estate Planning, Real Estate transactions, Infrastructure and Project Finance, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Kofi is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Ghana Bar Association, and the International Advertising Association. He has also held key leadership roles, such as serving as the Board Secretary for the State Housing Company (SHC) Ltd., as temporary Board Secretary for Prudential Bank Limited and as a co-opted member of the Human Resource (HR) and Remuneration Committee of the Board of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

With a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence, Kofi continues to make significant contributions to the legal and business communities.

Akua Agyeman Appiah-Poku (Mrs.) is a driven and dedicated professional with a strong passion for organizational development. Known for her ability to thrive in challenging environments, she consistently demonstrates resilience and excellence on the job.

Specializing in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Corporate Law, and Corporate Governance, Akua has designed and executed comprehensive compliance strategies for numerous government and private sector entities. Her extensive experience in policy development and implementation is underscored by her leadership roles in compliance and enforcement across various state-owned organizations.

As a Board Secretary for multiple corporate entities, Akua’s commitment to corporate governance goes beyond facilitating board operations. She ensures the adoption of best practices, fostering the efficient and effective functioning of the boards she serves.

With over a decade of legal practice, Akua has honed her expertise in managing complex transactions, including multilateral contracts for both local and international clients. Her collaborative work with government agencies has provided her with a nuanced understanding of government relations and a robust network of regulators across diverse economic sectors.

Akua holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Gender, Peace, and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra. She also earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Law all from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. Since 2014, she has been a legal practitioner in good standing, having obtained her Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law in Accra.

In addition to her academic achievements, Akua has received numerous certifications in Corporate Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Executive Leadership from prestigious institutions such as the Ghana Institute of Management (GIMPA), Springs Global, Pan African Training, and Knowledge Tree in Dubai.

Outside of her professional life, Akua enjoys traveling and cherishes quality time with her family and friends.

Nana Agyeman Abu-Bonsra is a highly skilled legal professional with extensive expertise in aviation law, corporate and commercial litigation, and regulatory compliance. As Legal Counsel at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in Montreal, Canada, he provides strategic legal advice on aviation regulations, industry litigation, consumer protection policies, and data privacy matters, serving as a trusted advisor to global airlines and aviation stakeholders.

With a career comprising significant achievements in the aviation sector, Nana has handled a wide range of matters, including carrier liability, regulatory and licensing matters, product liability disputes, aviation finance and leasing conflicts, contractual and treaty interpretation, and general commercial disputes. His adeptness at navigating complex regulatory frameworks and interpreting international air law treaties positions him as a vital resource for industry players.

Prior to joining IATA, Nana was an Associate at Law Plus (Attorneys-at-Law), specializing in dispute resolution, corporate and commercial litigation, and regulatory compliance. He has successfully represented multinational clients in complex commercial disputes, contract negotiations, and shareholder agreements, demonstrating a strong ability to mitigate risks and resolve high-stakes legal matters.

Beyond litigation, Nana is a highly trusted advisor to foreign businesses entering the Ghanaian market, guiding them through corporate structuring, investment compliance, and regulatory approvals. He also advices airlines in obtaining essential operating licenses and regulatory approvals, ensuring seamless compliance with aviation authorities.

Nana holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Air and Space Law from Leiden University and is admitted to the Ghana Bar. His strategic, solutions-oriented approach to legal advisory and regulatory matters enables businesses and industry stakeholders to achieve compliance, resolve disputes efficiently, and optimize their operational frameworks.

Adjoa Gyebiwaa Opoku is a highly accomplished lawyer, admitted to the Ghana Bar, with over five years of experience providing expert legal and regulatory advice to businesses operating in both domestic and international markets. Her unique blend of expertise in business administration (Accounting) and law allows her to seamlessly integrate corporate strategy with legal compliance, delivering practical and commercially focused solutions.

Adjoa has a proven track record of advising clients across diverse industries, including telecommunications, banking and finance, insurance, and digital commerce. Her professional journey includes legal roles at the National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana and the National Investment Bank (NIB), as well as operational roles at Access Bank (Ghana) Plc.

Her extensive experience encompasses corporate and commercial law, litigation, and specialized knowledge in banking and finance, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. She has a particular focus on digital markets, e-commerce, financial technology, and telecommunications, making her a valuable resource for businesses navigating these dynamic sectors.

Adjoa holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with distinction from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, where she specialized in Competition Law, Telecommunications Law, Financial Regulation and Compliance, E-Commerce, and Competition Law in the Digital Economy. Her advanced academic training and practical experience position her as a strategic advisor, helping businesses achieve compliance, mitigate risks, and optimize their operations in an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape.

Albert Boateng is a seasoned finance professional with over 19 years of experience in banking, investment, and finance. He currently serves as an Advisor for the GET.Invest Finance Catalyst program in Sub-Saharan Africa and as the Team Leader for Green Finance Facilitator, a project preparation and investment facilitation initiative in Ghana. Throughout his career, Albert has been instrumental in supporting investments, fundraising, and strategic project development for a wide range of projects and businesses across West Africa, with a strong focus on clean energy initiatives.

Albert previously held the role of Regional Director at Persistent Energy Partners, a clean energy investment company, where he managed the investment and portfolio development of the firm’s West Africa operations. His responsibilities included pipeline development, investment appraisal, transaction structuring, asset management, and overseeing exit and liquidation strategies. Prior to this, he served as the Regional Asset Manager for E+Co, a clean energy fund management company that provided enterprise development services and investment capital to SMEs.

With extensive fund management experience, Albert was the Head of Asset Management at SIC-Financial Services Ltd, where he managed one of Ghana’s largest pension funds and other significant assets. He also played a key role as part of the pioneer team managing a $10 million Venture Capital Fund, which supported businesses across multiple sectors. Albert has a proven track record in advising and fundraising for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). As the Regional Co-ordinator for the Private Financing Advisory Network, he organized and participated in numerous Project Development and Financing Workshops, building capacity for clean energy entrepreneurs and project developers.

Earlier in his career, Albert worked as a credit analyst with Citizens Financial Group and Belmont Savings Bank in the United States. He holds the Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA) certification from the Corporate Finance Institute, equipping him with the skills to help businesses develop robust financial models, demonstrate viability, and identify investor exit opportunities. He has also supported investors in conducting due diligence on potential investee companies.

Albert currently serves on the Investment Committee for Wangara Capital, a climate-smart impact investment fund, and previously served on the Investment Committee of the Commodity Aggregation Development Fund (CADeF). He has also held board positions with PEG Ghana Ltd, Persistent Energy Capital Partners, and Connect Capital.

Albert holds an MBA in Finance from Boston College, USA, and a BA in Social Science (Economics and French) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. His extensive expertise and leadership in finance and clean energy continue to drive impactful initiatives across the region.

Over the past decade, Sena Yvette Blankson has honed her skills through professional roles, volunteer work, and academic pursuits, making her a valuable contributor to the success of the organizations she engages with.

Sena holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology and Information Studies from the University of Ghana, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Mount Crest University College, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School. She is currently pursuing an MSc in Procurement & Supply Chain Management at the University of Ghana Business School. Additionally, she is qualified to practice law in Ghana, having earned the Ghana School of Law’s Qualifying Certificate.

Sena is a results-driven professional, a collaborative team player, and a passionate work enthusiast with a strong commitment to continuous learning. Her areas of expertise and interest include Intellectual Property Law, Corporate Governance, Commercial Law, and Litigation. Her diverse skill set and dedication make her a dynamic and impactful individual in her career.

Joe Robertson is a qualified legal professional, having been called to The Gambian Bar. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the Wisconsin International University College in Ghana and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and History from the University of Ghana.

With a diverse professional background, Joe has gained experience in the financial, travel, communications, and public relations sectors across various industries. His primary areas of interest include commercial law, real estate transactions, business advisory services and insurance.

Joe is a highly driven and results-focused individual, known for his proactive approach and strong decision-making abilities. He possesses exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with sharp business acumen. Additionally, he is actively involved in providing social services at local, regional, and national levels.

Renowned for his excellent interpersonal skills, Joe is a skilled mediator and an effective communicator, capable of delivering persuasive and concise arguments. His experience spans a wide range of sectors, making him a versatile and reliable legal professional.

Marian Benedicta Biney is a detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable professional with excellent communication skills. With over five years of professional experience, she has provided comprehensive administrative support, business development, and project management services to a diverse range of organizations.

Known for her expertise in event planning, research, and project management, Marian is a self-driven and motivated individual who excels both independently and as a collaborative team player. She has a proven ability to deliver results, particularly in remote team settings and processes. Eager to leverage her strategic insight and exceptional narrative, written, and verbal communication skills, Marian thrives in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments, consistently enhancing the work experience wherever she goes.

Previously, Marian served as a Language Ambassador at the Speaking Agency in Lyon, France, where she taught the French language. Currently, as a French-Speaking Guide at the Resolution Project in New York, USA, she mentors and provides leadership training to fellows working toward social change aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and high-impact social projects.

Marian holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and French from the University of Ghana, Legon, as well as a Diploma in French Studies from the Université Catholique de Lyon in Lyon, France. She is currently pursuing a Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law. Marian is also an alumna of the CEIBS-Mastercard Foundation-ABSA Young Africa Works Project and the McKinsey & Co. Forward Program.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Marian has a keen interest in theatre, debate/moot competitions, poetry, travel, and gastronomy. Her diverse passions and experiences reflect her dynamic and multifaceted personality.

Felicia Addo brings over eight years of hands-on experience in legal services administration, event and office management, advertising campaigns, sales and marketing to her role at August Law. Known for her collaborative spirit and unwavering dedication, she is highly regarded for her ability to inspire and drive results.

Felicia holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of London and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon. Fluent in French, she is passionate about pursuing a career as a Legal Practitioner in the near future.

Her exceptional contributions have been recognized with the prestigious Unilever-Smile Africa Award for Excellence, a testament to her commitment to excellence and impactful work. Felicia’s diverse skill set and determination make her a valuable asset to the August Law team.
